How to Trade Toys, by Claire
There's a song by Raffi, "It's mine but you can have some, with you I'd like to share it, 'cause if I share it with you, you'll have some too." Well, the triplets have their own ideas when it comes to sharing toys. They like to trade. It started out when the triplets were much younger and one would have something they weren't supposed to, like the TV remote or one of Meredith's toys. We'd offer them something else and say 'trade'. And at that time, all was happy in their world. That one little word has a whole new meaning now, especially when Claire says it. If another triplet has a toy she wants, she will find something else (usually not equally as exciting) and walk over to that child, hold out the toy, say 'trade' and then just try to take what she wants. Sometimes the other child is agreeable and it's a smooth transaction. But most of the time it's only Claire who wants to trade and then a tug of war begins that can rival even the greatest ones on the school playgrounds. I'm just waiting for the day when Tigger's tail comes off or Cinderella loses her hair.
