No longer anonymous

I am no longer just a lady shopping at the store. When I go to Walgreens, the front cashier knows Meredith by name and asks all the girls how they are doing. If Meredith isn't with me and I have Amanda, Claire and Melissa, she'll ask where Meredith is. But it really surprised me the first time I went there alone and she asked me where all the kids were. You mean you recognize me?? Yup, no longer just some shopper coming in to grab a few packs of diapers. At first, I thought maybe the fact that I bought 12 packs of diapers (they were on a really really good sale!) and 4 boxes of Children's Zyrtec (they were buy 1 get 1 free!) might have given it away. But no, she knows me now. About a month ago I went by myself to buy more diapers, another good sale, and the assistant manager asked me if had snuck out of the house. And I hadn't even reached the diaper aisle yet! A few weeks ago I went and the manager asked where the girls were. So I guess I'd better start making sure I look presentable!

At Walmart a few weeks ago, I had the triplets in their wagon and Meredith was walking. A lady I don't ever recall talking to came up and said how big they were getting, how their hair was so much longer than 'last time', and how she couldn't believe they were already two. Um, who are you? She was very nice, and I was polite of course. I do always try to be polite and answer questions. But when you are shopping with a 4 year old and three 2 year olds timing is everything! Get in, get out. Go during snack time and bring plenty of goldfish!

Don't be surprised, but not every comment is so nice. About a year ago Greg and I had the girls at Walmart and a lady saw us all and said, "Ugh! I'd have to shoot myself!" Well, then I guess it's a good thing God blessed us with these sweet babies and not you! Mostly we hear, "Wow, you must have your hands full!" or "I'd hate to be you in about 10 years!" For those people I usually just smile and keep walking.

But I must say it is nice to hear how beautiful the girls are. How well behaved they are (I really, really like to hear that one!). How blessed I am. How wonderful it must be to have so many children. And I might be a bit biased, but yes - I too think they are beautiful and very well behaved when I take them out in public. (Though we do have our moments now - the triplets are 2 afterall!)

LOL about "Um..who are you?" At least your famous at Walgreens and Walmart and not Saks and Norstroms-then you would have real problems- or at least be giving Greg a heart attack!
