Happy Birthday, Meredith

Meredith's birthday was last month, but I'm finally finishing up the pictures for you to see. Hard to believe she's already 5! We registered her for kindergarten this week and went to visit the school during Kindergarten Round-Up. She's excited to start school and was very happy to see so many nice computers in each room (6 I think!). The school is only 3 years old, so everything still looks new. She loved the big colorful rug on the floor for the class to sit on, and the centers chart on the wall - she misses that from her old preschool and is looking forward to center time again.

Some funny/sweet things Meredith has said lately...
After showing Greg the Mother's Day gift she made me at school, "Perhaps I can make you one for Father's Day."

At bath time last night, "Why is the water so shallow?"

"Great job, Melissa!" (or Claire, or Amanda) after using the potty.

Here's the birthday pictures!

Meredith wanted a party where the kids each decorated their own birthday cake. So everyone decorated a hat and an apron and then became a master cake decorator! Tubes of different colored icing, M&M's, and sprinkles made a mountain of sugar on top of each cake. Yummmm!

She had a hard time choosing her favorite place to go. It was between the park and Walmart, "Where I can buy lots of stuff." Funny girl. In the end, the park won out.
And her roller skates are an extension of her legs some days. The last two days she's worn them around the house for over 2 hours each day. She just skates everywhere she goes. She loves them!
And favorite food - no hesitation. Watermelon.
Meredith is very sentimental and cannot let go of things. I've tried cleaning out the toy box and she just can't get rid of things, even if she hasn't played with it in a year. "But it's my favorite!" If I try to do it while everyone is asleep, with in a month I can almost guarantee you she'll ask, "What happened to ____?" Oops. The girl doesn't forget anything.
