1st week finished... only 35 or so to go!

Meredith finished her first week of kindergarten - and her attitude about it was much better on Thursday and Friday. She actually used the word fun to describe her day on Wednesday (as opposed to the word hate on Monday and Tuesday). She likes center time, especially now that she's found a friend in her group - a little girl named Riley. Meredith also likes art class and music class. PE was not so fun b/c she wasn't able to dribble the ball when the teacher asked them to, but I told her that's why we go to school - to learn new things. If we already knew how to do everything, we wouldn't have to go to school! On Wednesday and Thursday she bought her lunch, and gave mixed reviews to the food. On the days I've sent her lunch, she ate everything except for the crackers on Friday!

On Wednesday night we came home from Mission Friends at church to find the school principal standing in the street in front of our house. Holding a cat. While this might seem odd, it's really not - she lives across the street from us! So I went out to say hi for a minute and she asked how Meredith was enjoying school. I told her the first two days were a little rough, but she seemed to be getting used to it. The principal said that almost all kindergarteners have a hard time the first few days or week. It's scary being there w/ so many kids. She said even the cafeteria is scary for her sometimes!

On Friday Meredith came home with a note saying she was selected as the Student of the Week! Her name was announced on the loud speaker at the end of the day - she was excited about that. And she got to pick a friend to eat lunch with on the stage. But not excited that she has a poster "about Me" to complete this weekend. She's afraid she's not going to have any fun b/c she's going to be busy doing her work! We'll squeeze it in and make it fun...
