Wow, it's been a while since I've posted and we've had a lot going on! Halloween weekend was busy for us - the girls went to a 'Jubilee' at Meredith's school and a fall carnival at a church on Saturday, then Sunday we went to church in the morning, back to our church for a trunk-or-treat, and then back home for trick-or-treating in our neighborhood!
Backing up a week or so, I had lasik on October 22nd - and wow! I can see SO much better. I still sometimes reach for my glasses when I wake up in the morning, but then remember I don't need them anymore! By the day after surgery, my vision was 20/20.
More recently, we've been fighting off some colds and/or allergies. Amanda got an ear infection a few weeks ago, and this past Monday she had a 2 week follow up after a round of antibiotics which showed that one ear was clear (the one that still has a tube) and the other ear was still pretty infected (the one that lost the tube a few months ago). So she started a 2nd round of antibiotics, only to have that ear drum rupture 2 days later. Another trip to the pediatrician on Wednesday and she started ear drops as well. Meredith also went to the doctor on Wednesday and started antibiotics for an ear infection.
On Tuesday this past week, Amanda went to see a pediatric opthamologist for 4 bumps she has around her eyes which have been there for a couple of months (she first went to the pediatrician about them a month ago). He said they are a chalazion, and the one below her right eye is pretty large and infected. He recommended surgically removing it because it has continued to grow, especially over the last week or two. So this is scheduled for next Wednesday.
Since she's been having problems with her ears again, he also contacted Amanda's pediatrician and ENT about replacing the ear tube while she's asleep anyway for her eye surgery. So we went to the ENT on Friday and she agreed that the tube needed to be replaced as well as remove Amanda's adenoids. So all of this will be done on Wednesday now - most likely first thing in the morning. And hopefully Amanda will feel good as new in no time!
So one week, 4 doctor appointments (5 copays), 3 antibiotics, one surgery time w/ 3 procedures scheduled... it's been a busy week!

I hope everyone gets to feeling better and that the surgery goes (went) well.
