We've had a number of visits to these doctors over the last month. Several weeks ago Melissa went to the orthopedist to follow up on her foot. Started out going a year ago because she had really really flat feet that rolled in, and she wasn't walking yet. Doctor said no worries, follow up in 3 months - then determined at that appointment that she had a tight heel cord on her left foot, but still not to worry, follow up in 6 months. So that appointment was a few weeks ago and the tightness is better, but he wants to see her again in a year. On Monday this week Meredith went to the orthopedist (same practice, different doctor) for her 6 month follow up after her last visit for her broken arm. She had to follow up because the break was on a growth plate. The x-rays showed more bone growth; in fact you could hardly even see the line showing the break. She has complete movement in her arm and fingers - watching her you'd never know anything happened. So Meredith does not have to go back for any more follow-ups!
Yesterday I took Amanda and Claire to the pediatric ear, nose and throat doctor. They were referred because they've each had a number of ear infections over the last 6 months, and the fluid in their ears is not going away. The doctor looked over their history and looked in their ears and noses. He said he could really go either way regarding the tubes, but wanted to check their hearing to see if the fluid is causing some hearing loss, and sure enough it is. Claire has a bit more loss than Amanda - and it should be corrected when the fluid is gone. But the doctor wants to go ahead and put the tubes in their ears. I'll call to schedule that soon.
Other good news is that Amanda's weight has been up to 25+ pounds at both her recent doctor visits - this is fully clothed and with shoes, but just a month and a half ago she only weighed 22 pounds (2 pounds less than her sisters). That was after being sick with mono for several weeks and not eating like she usually does. Yea Amanda! And the ENT noted that Claire's 2 year molars are starting to come in too!
