We had a busy weekend here! We started Friday evening at IHOP for dinner (kids eat free!!!) then off to the bookstore to read since the library was closed and it was too hot to play outside. Saturday morning we had our pictures taken. One of Greg's coworker's husband is a photographer and was wanting to take pictures of families/kids to build his portfolio, so of course I volunteered! He spent almost three hours taking pictures. I asked the girls how many pictures they thought he took about halfway through. Melissa said 3, Meredith said 6, and Amanda and Claire agreed on 4. After he was finished, I asked him how many he took and he said about a thousand! WOW! There's gotta be at least one or two good ones in there. :) Maybe the one where he tried to pose us as a family and Claire had a stand off about two feet away... Or maybe the one where Meredith was trying to get a closer look at the creek and Amanda was screaming and desparately trying to "save" her from falling in... The girls seemed to have a good time, and while there were a good number of posed pictures at the beginning, the girls had a lot of time to play at a park, on a giant rock picnic table, in the trees, with lollipops and bubbles, and just run around. I'm anxious to see how they turned out! But with about a thousand pictures, I'm sure it'll be a couple weeks!
Sunday we headed off to church, with Amanda telling us the whole way, "I don't like church. I don't want to go to church." When Greg asked why she said, "I miss my daddy." (Smart answer, kid!) We arrived and dropped off three screaming two year olds, which I always feel bad about - but the workers tell me they always settle down pretty quickly, and then Meredith reluctantly walked into her class. However when we picked them up about three hours later they all seemed to have a pretty good time! Very proud of the pictures they made and eager to tell us the stories they heard.
Sunday afternoon Greg took Meredith to the pool and the plan was for me to meet him there with the triplets after they woke up from their nap. Except as I raised the garage door to leave, he pulled back into the driveway. Uh-oh - this can't be good! Seems Meredith 'lost' playing at the pool because she wasn't following the rules. But we had already promised Amanda, Claire and Melissa we'd take them swimming - they were in their swimsuits and buckled in the car! So off we went back to the pool, but Meredith had to watch from the side (bet she follows directions next time!). Melissa had a great time swimming around the little pool with Greg. Amanda wanted to swim but wouldn't go with Greg and Claire refused to leave the top step. So after about 10 minutes I took Claire and Meredith to change and Greg took Amanda and Melissa to swim in the big pool - but Amanda wanted OUT! So she came with me to get dressed and Melissa got some special pool time all to herself. (Well, she had pool time with Daddy to her herself - the pool was pretty packed!)
