Melissa came out from her nap yesterday and complained that her finger was wet and wrinkly (instead of sucking on her thumb, she sucks on her index finger). Well, since she napped for an hour, it had probably been in her mouth for an hour! I told her to dry it off on her shirt and not put it back in her mouth if she didn't want it to be wet. She looked at me very seriously and said, "But Mommy, I'm Melissa." In her world, that's what Melissas do - suck their fingers, and Claire and Amanda suck their thumbs.
Meredith was playing with tinker toys and was starting to get upset that her creation kept breaking. So Nana told her that "tinker toys are meant to break, so you can build something new again." Meredith replied, "Tinker toys are meant to break, unless you pray to God for them to stay together."
