Swimming Lessons, Day 5

As you read this and look at pictures and video, keep in mind that when we started all 4 girls refused to put their faces in the water. Screamed at just a few drops getting on their faces. The triplets screamed almost the entire first day of lessons. Then on day 2, they cried everytime it was their turn. By day 4 most of them were asking to go back. After we got home Friday, Claire asked if we could go back tomorrow. What a difference!
Meredith thinking about jumping in... She was like the professional athlete that had a little routine before going up to bat or shooting a freethrow. She'd stretch her swimsuit out on the bottom. Bend over. Stand up. Push her goggles on (at the recommendation of the swim teacher). Stand up. Bend over. Think some more... Bend over. And...
...jump! Whew!

Melissa (yellow and blue floaties) and Amanda (green floaties) just swimming around the pool while waiting their turn. The girls are now very comfortable doing this.

Melissa getting ready to swim to the side.

Claire just hangin' out. She had the best time and really enjoyed swimming lessons from day 3 on. She was calm and encouraging to her sisters!

Claire again!

And now - the videos!

Meredith - this is her 3rd time to swim the length of the pool, about 20-25 feet I'm guessing.

Amanda swimming to the side - this is the end of Day 5 and she finally got both arms out in front and her rear up (she had been in a sitting position while swimming, which really slowed her down).

Claire - jumping in and swimming! Claire had the most fun. That's Amanda crying in the background because she wants to jump!

Melissa swimming to the side - she picked it up the quickest - with her "arms long and hiney up" as Mrs. Debbie kept saying. The teacher always had each child to their turn 3 times and then she'd rotate.

Melissa: "I want to do it one time!" and she'd hold up one finger.
Mrs. Debbie: "And I want you to do it three times."
Melissa: "One time!" She'd swim one time...
Melissa: "I want to do it two more times," and she'd hold up two fingers.
