Meredith is growing up right before our eyes. Fast. Just a few weeks ago she was still a preschooler, having fun playing all day long. Super shy and quiet when we went out and someone spoke to her. Now, she walks into school by herself, initiates conversations with store clerks, and is Student of the Week!
Earlier this week, we went to the pet store to get a new fish for our tank. On the way there, Meredith asked if we could pet a kitten. I told her we would have to ask the lady at the store. As soon as she had bagged up our fish, Meredith piped up and asked, "May I pet a kitten please?" She spoke loud enough for the lady to hear her and was even polite! Who is this girl?
On the way to school yesterday, I told Meredith that one of these days it's going to be raining hard and we wouldn't be able to all walk her into her classroom in the morning; I'd have to drop her off at the front door and she would need to walk to her classroom by herself. It was just misty right now and we could walk her in, but one of these days it's going to be really raining. I asked if she'd like to try it today, or wait a little while longer. After thinking for a moment, she said she'd like to try today. So I told her exactly what to do as soon as she got out of the car and she understood. As we approached the place I usually parked in the morning, I asked her again - giving her a chance to change her mind. I knew this was a big step for her to take. She assured me that she wanted to try it, so we went around the circle drive and I pulled up to the front curb. She hopped out of the car (there was a teacher there to assist) and she just walked right on in as I drove away. This morning I asked her if she wanted us to walk her in or drop her off, and she quickly said she wanted to be dropped off. Who is this girl?
